The Bay Area led the nation in growth of job listings last month, according to a report by a Silicon Valley job search site.
New York led the nation’s cities in overall job listings with 250,000, followed by the Bay Area with 198,356, but the region topped the charts in terms of growth in job listings from November to December.
San Francisco posted a 2.48 percent month-over-month increase in job listings last month, topping Washington, D.C. (1.37 percent), Seattle (1.34 percent), St. Louis (1.23 percent) and Boston (1 percent), according to a report issued Wednesday by Simply Hired.
Sunnyvale-based job search site Simply Hired said job listings increased nationwide by 9.58 percent last year, although growth slowed to virtually nothing (+ 0.21 percent) in December.
“This year, a stronger labor market means there are nearly 10 percent more job listings today than in January 2015,” or an additional 4.49 million new job openings, said James Beriker, Simply Hired’s president and CEO.
