San Francisco Apartment Rent Growth Dwarfed by Office Rents

The cost of renting an apartment in San Francisco has risen by 62 percent, despite the addition of more than 12,000 units since 2010. This has caused affordability issues both for residents and for companies looking to attract top talent to the city. Businesses are facing even larger cost increases for office space, with a 123 percent increase in asking rents over the same time period.
